The past few days have been very busy and I had the opportunity to meet and work with several students who made honour to our university and city. Here are a few highlights
• During the past few months, Enterprise has been promoted both on campus and in Plymouth. A few students have been inspired by the concept of Enterprise and decided to start a new publication called Intention which will encourage students to debate on different issues. From an idea developed by a few students, there are now more than 60 people working on the first edition and the number is increasing daily. The first edition will be launched on the 17th of November 2008.
• A team of students: Emily Harris, Jen Henderson, Sarah Dyer, Emma Thorpe, Nicola Ashurst and Carly Warburton (reserve) participated in the famous BBC 2 quiz show Eggheads. They made honour both to the University and the city by beating the Eggheads and winning £16,000.
• The University of Plymouth Hindu society organised the Diwali celebration on campus on Tuesday the 28th of October. Many students are looking forward to the annual Eid/Diwali celebration which will take place in the Guildhall on Saturday the 1st of November.
• On Saturday the 1st of November a trip to Bath is planned. It is organised by the University of Plymouth Students’ Union (UPSU) in collaboration with the International Students’ Advisory Service (ISAS). Trips are organised monthly to different parts of UK.
